I need to borrow the set again to milestone the trilogy. Hang on.
This gal knows what milestones are about. Must be all that TV work.
This category will cover a lot of genres, but I imagine there will be many milestones similaritiesa across genres for this age group.
Hm. The pinch points. Who to trust?
The darker tone of this intallment is reinforced by the inciting incident. Interesting that Kreacher shows up here but Umbridge doesn't. In a sense, they are manifestations of the same thing: the wizarding world's dark underbelly, which exists independently of Voldemort.
Classic use of the inciting incident: create anticipation of the life-altering event. At first glance, pinch point 2 seems to have been relegated to mention of a task, but remember that while Harry ponders the egg, Myrtle mentions finding polyjuice potion in her u-bend. Somebody's in disguise--and it's not the goodies.
Notice how Rowling uses the pinch points to strengthen the impression that Sirius Black is a threat to Harry. Milestones are useful to narrative sleight-of-hand.
