The scribes and Pharisees ask the disciples why Jesus eats with publicans and sinners. Jesus replies that he came to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance. When asked why his disciples don't fast like the Pharisees and the disciples of John, Jesus replies that he is the bridegroom and will be taken away. The Pharisees ask Jesus why his disciples pluck ears of corn on the sabbath. 1241.9 1252.338 Pinch 1 Jesus feeds the five thousand and walks on water to the disciples in their boat. The disciples don't consider the miracle of the loaves, because their hearts are hardened. The scribes and Pharisees ask Jesus why his disciples eat with unwashed hands. 1240.9 1259.963 Pinch 2 Jesus tells a rich young man to sell everything and give to the poor, take up his cross and follow Jesus. The young man is grieved at the thought of giving up his wealth.  Jesus tells the disciples it his hard for a rich man to enter heaven, but with God it is possible. He promises the disciples that their sacrifices will be rewarded a hundredfold. Page total 1263.775 Plot Turn 2 The Sadducees ask which of seven brothers who marry the same woman will be her husband in the resurrection. Jesus replies that in the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage and that God is the God of the living, not of the dead. A scribe asks which is the first commandment. Jesus replies that the first commandment is to love God with all one's heart, soul, mind and strength, and that the second commandment is to love one's neighbour as oneself. After that, no one dares ask Jesus any questions. Jesus asks how the sribes say that Christ is the son of David, given that David calls Christ "Lord".   1271.4 Conclusion Jesus appears to the disciples and upbraids them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they did not believe the witnesses of his resurrection. He commands them to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He says that signs will follow those that believe. He is received up into heaven.
